Infection Prevention and Control (IPC)

Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) is an evidence-based discipline aimed at preventing the spread of infections within healthcare settings to protect patients, staff, and visitors. It involves managing risks through hand hygiene, cleaning, and safety protocols to reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and combat antibiotic resistance.
Importance of IPC for an institution like SMBZAN ICQ cannot be overemphasised. Hence, training of our staff including physicians, nurses, paramedical and auxiliary staff in IPC protocols is accorded very high Importance.
In the same vein, a master trainers course in IPC was conducted on 3rd and 7th April 2026. Individuals selected as master trainers from all departments participated in the course. Topics including Disinfection & Sterilisation, Isolation Precautions, Healthcare Waste Management and Environmental Infection Control were discussed in detail. Participants displayed a high level of enthusiasm for the training.
The event culminated with award of certificates to the participants.
