Mr Muhammad Sooba Khan, Former Honourary Investment Counselor for South Korea Government of Pakistan visited SMBZAN ICQ. The gentleman is a Korean national with more than two decades of experience in international bridge building on people-to-people level and deep ingress into various government and non-government charitable organizations in South Korea involvement in funding and donations to developing countries. He was pleasantly surprised by the presence of a state-of-the-art cardiology institute in Quetta, and was impressed by the breadth and quality of services being provided to the patients at SMBZAN ICQ. Discussion involved utilization of his expertise and ingress in South Korea for support to our great institute for improvement of sevices, including that by various NGOs. He was presented with a memento by CEO SMBZAN ICQ as a token of remembrance

Dr Azam Tahir, Professor of Psychology University of Balochistan and Professorial Research Scientist Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) visited SMBZAN ICQ on 21 April 2026 and interacted with CEO Brig Asim Iftikhar. The esteemed professor introduced PILL, Global Leaders in Mental Health Research and dedictaed to promoting optimal physical and mental health in low-resource settings. The gentleman appreciated the efforts being made by SMBZAN ICQ to provide state-of-the-art cardiology services to the people of Balochistan and expressed desire to collaborate with the institute on ACROSS (Affordable Cardiac Rehabilitation An Outreach Inter-Disciplinary Strategic Study) Research Program - A multicentre multi-country study ultimately aimed at developing a clinically feasible and cost-effective cardiac rehabilitation model for patients with a multimorbidity of heart disease and depression and / or anxiety. The study is being spearheaded by University of Glasgow and NIHR UK. Inclusion in such a prestigious research program will put SMBZAN ICQ on the international map for medical research and allow us to reap all the benefits associated with such endeavours. Most importantly, it will help us devise a culturally and contextually applicable affordable home-based cardiac rehabilitation program for our patients and thus serve them better. CEO expressed his gratitude to Dr Azam Tahir for his acknowledgement of SMBZAN ICQ's stature as the first and only cardiology institute of the province and one worthy of inclusion in such a prestigious study. The interaction ended with presentation of a souvenir to the esteemed professor.

CEO SMBZAN ICQ Brig Asim Iftikhar hosted Dr Amin Khan Mandokhail, Director General Health, Government of Balochistan in his office on 27 April 2026. DG Health was apprised about the efforts being made by the institute to improve the quality and range of services provided to the clientele. He appreciated the dedication, empathy and love with which the doctors and staff at SMBZAN ICQ are treating their patients. The discussion also included other matters related to administration and HR. DG Health was appreciative of the values of discipline, equity and merit that underlied all command decisions at the institute. He also pledged to fully support ICQ efforts to retain specialised trained HR in the present recruiting milieu in the province. The interaction ended with presentation of a souvenir to the esteemed guest.

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are essential lifesaving interventions that improve survival rates by ensuring timely and effective management of cardiac and respiratory emergencies. In this context, a 3-day BLS and ACLS training workshop was conducted on 5th 6th and 7th May 2026 at SMBZAN ICQ in collaboration with Medinostic Health Care. A total of 161 participants attended the sessions under mentorship of Dr. Anil Kumar (Asst Prof Interventional Cardiology), promoting lifesaving skills and emergency preparedness among healthcare staff. These sessions strengthened the clinical and emergency response skills of our healthcare staff and reinforced the importance of timely, coordinated and effective lifesaving interventions in improving patient outcomes.

Hypertension is a silent killer that kills 10 million people every year globally. Its importance increases further in the context of heart disease, where it is one of the most important contributory to heart attacks. In this backdrop, World Hypertension Day was celebrated at SMBZAN ICQ with great enthusiasm and commitment towards promoting awareness about hypertension and heart health. The event started with recitation of Holy Quran after which Dr. Huma, HoD Cardiology, Local Chapter Coordinator PHL, delivered a succinct lecture on causes & prevention of hypertension. This was followed by address by CEO Brig Asim Iftikhar and cake cutting. Afterwards, an awareness walk was organized to highlight the importance of prevention, early diagnosis and control of hypertension. In addition, blood pressure screening was conducted in the OPD, where BP of all patients and visitors was checked to encourage regular monitoring and healthy lifestyle practices. The event reflected SMBZAN ICQ’s dedication towards public health awareness and preventive healthcare.

International Nurses Day was celebrated at SMBZAN ICQ with great enthusiasm under the theme “Our Nurses, Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by inspiring remarks from Deputy Director Nursing, Mrs. Najma Saeed, who highlighted the vital role of nurses in patient care and healthcare excellence. Valuable words were also shared by Dr. Iqbal Alam Khan, Associate Professor (Cardiac Surgery), Dr. Ghulam Sarwar Pirkani, Assistant Professor (Pathology), and other distinguished speakers, appreciating the dedication and commitment of the nursing community. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, reflecting gratitude and recognition for the tireless services of nurses at SMBZAN ICQ.

We had the privilege of welcoming and hosting a high-level delegation from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), led by President CPSP Prof Muhammad Shoaib Shafi. The distinguished delegation also included Prof Khalid Masood Gondal, (Senior Vice President), Mr Muhammad Amir Zaman, (DGME), Prof Muhammad Asghar Butt, (DGIR), Prof Jehangir Khan, (Councilor), Prof Aisha Siddiqa, (Councilor), along with senior CPSP inspectors. The delegation was accompanied by Mr Mujeeb ur Rehman Secretary Health Balochistan. The esteemed guests were warmly received by Brig Asim Iftikhar, CEO SMBZAN ICQ. During the visit, the delegation was briefed about the remarkable achievements of SMBZAN ICQ, its state-of-the-art facilities, ongoing academic and clinical initiatives and future development plans. The visitors showed keen interest in the institute's progress and appreciated the commitment and dedication of the team towards providing quality cardiac care to the people of Balochistan. The visit concluded with Brig Asim Iftikhar, CEO SMBZAN ICQ, presenting commemorative shields to the distinguished CPSP delegation, followed by a group photograph, marking a productive and memorable interaction between CPSP and SMBZAN ICQ
